The product
Write to people already in your life.
Direct messages and groups. Photos and files. Channels if you need a place to post updates. There is no public feed to grow, and no ads in the way.
Keys stay with the people in that conversation. Account deletion lives in Settings.
On the device
Sealed before it leaves.
End-to-end encryption happens on your device. Servers store opaque envelopes and delivery metadata: that a message was sent, roughly when, and to which chat. Username and email (for a sign-in code) are ordinary account data. Technical detail
Optional backups use a passphrase you choose. We cannot reset it if you forget.
When the network fails
Nearby is room-scale.
Bluetooth reaches about the length of a large room. Messages can hop through other people who also have Nearby on — a hallway, a crowd, a house.
It will not find a phone across the city. You turn it on when you want it.

Plain answers
Can Pigeon staff read my chats?
No. Private chats, groups, and files are encrypted on your device. See the privacy policy and technology page.
How do I start?
Install the Windows download. You do not need an admin password. We email a short code, or you can continue with Google. Then pick a username people can find.
Do you show ads or sell data?
No ads. We do not sell messages. An optional Plus plan ($3.99/mo or $29.99/yr when billing launches) is extra storage and capacity, not weaker privacy.
What do you store about me?
Username, display name, optional photo, sign-in email or phone, device names, and which chats you belong to. Full list in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account, then type your username to confirm. If you cannot open the app, follow the privacy policy or email [email protected].
How do I report or block someone?
From their profile, choose Report or Block. A report emails [email protected] with account details and your reason — not chat text. Block hides their 1:1 chat on this device.
Is this ready for everyone?
No. Closed beta. Things will change. If something feels off, write [email protected].
What about calls?
Voice and video are not in this version.
