The thesis

People should not have to choose between a private chat and a chat that still works when the network is gone. Pigeon locks private messages on the device, then delivers them over the internet — or nearby, over Bluetooth, when the internet is out.

Encryption is not a paywall. Nearby is not a paywall. If we sell extra capacity later, the lock stays on for everyone.

That is the whole idea. A careful reader can see more of the design on the technology page. We are not going to decorate this page with market-size slides or a traction chart we would have to walk back.

Where we are

Closed beta. Windows is available now. Android and iPhone are next. The product will change. We would rather be early and honest than late and theatrical.
